Traffic Light

Tired of forcing my way through fate,
Chasing down the train when I’m an hour too late,
Pretending things are approved by destiny,
When it wasn’t really meant to be.

Just one glance, one smile, one wave
I miss the way my heart used to behave
Always panting and ecstatic whenever you’re around,
But now I feel you’re slipping like grains of sand.

My heart said “chase” when I saw you down the street,
Tell him, he’s your last thought before you went to sleep
But my feet didn’t move a single inch,
He was gone the moment I closed my eyes to blink.

If you need a friend I’m hear to listen,
I’ll always say yes if you ask me out for dinner
You are worth the time and the company,
For always when I’m with you, I become happy.
